Spikester endavoured to create a home and rest stop along the road leading the remains of Morgantown, utilizing the under structure of the pre-existing roadway and bridge but he didn’t want to hinder any foot traffic along the road. His solution was to build a structure that allowed safe passage underneath it with a tunnel through his structure, offering pedestrians a covered walkway for a short stint.Â
